African Institute of Public Leadership -AIPL is a professional leadership and standards-based community committed to advancing ethical, competent, and service-driven leadership across Africa and beyond.
The Honourary Fellowship of AIPL is a prestigious recognition conferred on exceptional individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, integrity, and influence in advancing leadership, governance, and societal progress across Africa and the world.
We invite nominations of highly accomplished individuals from diverse fields including business, politics, public service, governance, media, academia, civil society, and other spheres of impact. Nominees should exemplify the values of ethical leadership, public responsibility, and transformative contribution to society.
Who Can Be Nominated?
Candidates for Honourary Fellowship should:
- Have a distinguished record of achievement and leadership in their field
- Demonstrate strong ethical standards and public integrity
- Show measurable impact on society, institutions, or communities
- Serve as a role model and source of inspiration to emerging leaders
- Contribute to the advancement of good governance, public leadership, or social progress
Who Can Nominate?
Nominations are open to:
- Members and Fellows of AIPL
- Partner institutions and organizations
- Leaders in public, private, and civic sectors
- Individuals with credible knowledge of the nominee’s work and impact
Self-nominations are not permitted, except on a peculiar cases.

Role of Honourary Fellows
Honourary Fellows are part of a distinguished community that contributes to the mission of AIPL through:
- Thought Leadership – advancing ideas that shape leadership and governance.
- Institutional Ambassadorship – representing AIPL in Africa and globally.
- Mentorship & Engagement – inspiring and guiding emerging leaders.
- Strategic Insight – contributing experience to high-level dialogues and initiatives.
Engagement is by invitation and mutual alignment, reflecting the dignity and stature of the Fellowship.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Honourary Fellows are exempted from normal pre-induction processes and from annual subscription payments.
While the Honourary Award is strictly on recognition, a prospective awardee is required to make a minimum financial donation of N1m/$1000 to FLED Endowment Fund to support leadership education at FLED Institute.
